Faerie Glossary

Here is a list of the faerie types that have been mentioned so far in the Faerie Tale Romance series. More to be discovered!

Aos Sí
also called the small fae or the small folk. Basically, anyone who is not one of the Tuatha Dé Danann (or giants)
Brownies
Household keepers.
Cait Sìth
A powerful race of fae who can shift into the form of a black cat nine times. The ninth time they are trapped in cat form forever.
Cirein-cròin
Giant sea serpents, rumoured to eat whales or even large ships.
Cù Sìth
giant green hounds with glowing red eyes. Their bark is an omen of death.
Danu
The ancestors of the Tuatha Dé Danann
Dearg Due
Vampires. Drinkers of blood.
Draoi
woodland fae with bark-like skin and hair that resembles leaves.
Faoladh
Fae cursed to shift into a wolf when the sun is down.
Leipreachán
shoe makers and leather workers.
Glaistig
horned fae whose bottom half is like a goats. Similar to a faun
Grogach
A small hairy faerie with a messy appearance.
Peiste
Giant serpents that lurk in lakes, bogs, and moats.
Poukha
Shape shifters. Natural form is like a shaggy black cat crossed with a rabbit. They are prone to mischief.
Piskie
tiny winged faeries
Sheerie
also called will-o’-the-wisp. A tiny winged faerie that lives near swamps and often guides travellers to their doom.
Tuatha Dé Danann
High fae. Humanlike in appearance but tall and with pointed ears.
